Join us for a six week, empowerment based self defense series. During the series you’ll learn life-saving skills including verbal and physical techniques to keep yourself safe. This series focuses on practical skills that don’t take months to master. Led by experienced instructors, we’ll work in groups and pairs to practice everything from verbal boundary setting to physically defending against an attacker.

This course is free and registration is limited to 30 participants. This series builds week over week so we ask that participants be able to make at least five of the six classes when signing up). Youth aged 10-17 are welcome to attend with a participating adult.

Spring Self Defense Series

Saturday’s from 12pm-1:30pm April 5th-May 10th 2025

Our self-defense trainings incorporate a mix of verbal, physical, and awareness skills intended to be accessible regardless of experience or level of fitness. We discuss strategies to stay safe and build a community of resistance to violence. Our trainings are excellent opportunities for people to get together, share experiences, and learn life saving self-defense skills. People from varied backgrounds, age groups, walks of life, and reasons for wanting to train all bring something unique and essential to our trainings.

Trainings are provided for all of our cis and trans sisters, as well as our non-binary siblings who are comfortable in a space that centers the experiences of women.

Trainings will be held at Eugene Aikikai in Eugene’s whiteaker neighborhood. The dojo includes a private training area and private, gender inclusive bathroom.
