What options do we have when we see someone else facing discrimination or threatening behavior? How can we utilize our voice to help protect those around us? How can we help to diffuse heated situations and deescalate conflict in the moment? This class will focus on the basic principles of verbal defense from the lens of community defense. We’ll cover both basic deescalation techniques as well as discuss the principles and tactics to being an active bystander/up-stander in our communities. This course if mostly focused on verbal self defense tactics with some attention to body language and safe stances.

All of our classes are FREE, drop-in style with no registration, suitable for youth 10+ (please plan to participate if your youth is under the age of 14), and those with physical limitations.
